Welcome to the Wetherby RUFC U12s tour 2008 pages

Has another year really passed..?

And so it was time to do it all again - the Wetherby U12s tour this year was to the North East of England and to our hosts at Blaydon RFC.

2 eggs!A whistle stop visit was to last only 24 hours but was packed with as much as possible along the way with visits to the Laser Battlefield for a little warfare practice, the evening meal at the hotel where there was another skirmish as the webmaster managed to get 2 eggs with his gammon whilst everyone else only got one.  Ha!

Next up was some ten pin bowling at the Metro Centre which brought back navigational nightmare memories from last year in Telford with the near arrest of David Fox for a minor traffic violation.  Things should have got better back at the hotel, but as the evening progressed it appeared we had entered a parallel universe akin to the Bermuda Triangle, confirmed by the ghostly appearance of Glenn Miller later on.

Sunday was to see us head off to Blaydon RFC for 3 games of rugby (should have been 4 but a blizzard cut the morning short).

Laurel and Hardy make an appearance for WetherbySo, we had a re-enactment of world war II, spring, summer, autumn and winter followed by a trip to the 70s (Megabowl) then to the  twilight zone (hotel) where the boys seemed to manage to get into every room in the hotel and relieve them of their tea, coffee and hot chocolate whilst an U9s Northern Irish football team took over the bar and foyer...

A huge vote of thanks goes to Blaydon for their warm and friendly hospitality, especially to Adrian Dowson for his help in ensuring the fixtures ran smoothly.  We hope to meet again on the field for more entertaining and skilful rugby.  Thank you!
